Mtorolite is a type of chalcedony found mainly in Zimbabwe. It’s a volcanic mineral: when magma cools and solidifies, it can create cavities that become filled with silica deposits through water infiltration, which then slowly crystallise to become chalcedony. The stones in this necklace measure the full depth of the mtorolite seam, so they’re textured on both sides by the base rock in which they were found.
