"Music of the Spheres" pendant
"Music of the Spheres" pendant
This design in sterling silver, tourmaline and garnet uses wire weaving and cold connections to bind the components together and shape the piece. My inspiration was an imagining of a dark and beautiful spiritual dimension with currents of energy floating through vast space. There are references to symbols such as the ancient Egyptian Eye of Horus , planetary alignments and pathways and the sacred geometry of spirals and triangles.
I first sketched the design to create a paper template, then formed the thicker wires into shape as I worked, whilst binding them into place in a very involved process using fine wire. You can see the detail of the texture if you enlarge the first image at the left. I’ve oxidised and re-polished the silver to highlight the texture and method of creation.
The pendant measures 5.5cm across and is strung on a 20” sterling silver snake chain (also oxidised and re-polished). If you would prefer a different length of chain, please get in touch.
